So, Editors… Who the hell they copy Joy Division and sound the same? I’d punch a guy with his face, coz it’s a total crap. I’m really fond of Joy Division, they were the pioneers of post-punk, and their sound and the message are irreplaceable. Nevertheless, please do trust me when I say Editors went a bit further. They have expanded “post-punk” sound from being totally hopeless, sombre to an epic, spectacular hope for freedom, for being you, for perceiving a real, hectic and stuffy life. They have made a great leap from just the next Joy Division-inspired band to a fully-fledged, all-sufficient music phenomenon. They deserve it even more due to a great inspiration they give to their audience. I don’t want to eulogize Tom Smith too much, but he is definitely one of the most outstanding contemporary lyrists, musicians and stage artists. He doesn’t say too much, he doesn’t wear any Robert Smith make-up, but he is stunning. He leads you away to a land of emotions, dreams, hopes, lost fantasies and hidden fears. He is a physiologist that looks through you, tries to drag off your inner world and make you feel human again.
What is more important, being really metaphorical, Tom Smith’s lyrics is so down-to-earth and clear, he shows off all his feelings so do we while listening to Editors and anyhow perceive their art.
I am not a professional to speculate about the musical constituent of Editors, but dear to assume it’s worth being a heritage of a golden music fund. The tender squealing (exactly!) of Chris’s guitar lifts up to the sky and dips into a mild foam of out-of-body emotions. Tom’s voice from beyond and a remarkable Chris’s musical gift were simply meant to be.
Please, take a breath, make a step, they’re already captivating you! Maybe, I don’t even realize it yet…

The Picture –
You look back at the picture
And realize things then were different
It's not who you know
It's what you know then
